This large and varied collection of Newark-related ephemera, publications, photographs and artifacts was amassed by Newark attorney and banker Donald Karp, a devotee of Newark history who played an active role in many aspects of the civic and cultural life of the city.

Scope and Contents This volume includes ca. 60 maps of various neighborhoods, and towns in Essex County. Most of the maps are photostats or other reproductions, and many are either tax maps or maps of lots owned by realty companies. More than half of the maps are of the Town of Bloomfield. Newark-related maps include: a photostat of an 1896 map, overlaid with another map and notes regarding the Union Building; lots owned by the Knickerbocker Life Insurance Company (1905); Clinton Avenue Heights...
