Abstract

This large and varied collection of Newark-related ephemera, publications, photographs and artifacts was amassed by Newark attorney and banker Donald Karp, a devotee of Newark history who played an active role in many aspects of the civic and cultural life of the city.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Karp collections were donated by Donald and Margery Karp in a series of donations between 2012 and 2023.

Processing Information

A small, early donation of Karp material was processed by Alix Ross in 2019. The bulk of the collection was processed by Gail Malmgreen in 2023-2024. A few issues of periodicals were separated from the collection to fill out runs of those titles already held by the Library.
