Scope and Contents
The collection consists of 2 boxes of photographs, mostly black and white, 8" x 10" prints. A substantial number of the photographs are stamped with Johnston's name on the back. Subjects include WNJR interviews and broadcasts, Newark Airport, downtown Newark, public events, sports, portraits, etc. There are also photographs that appear to be of the Johnston family, and a few photographs that are attributed to the Associated Press and other news services.

Biographical / Historical
Professional photographer Almon W. Johnston, based at 140 Roseville Avenue, Newark, shot photographs for local newspapers, including the Newark Sunday Call, and for Newark radio station WNJR. Blanche M. Johnston (1906-1970) may have been his wife.
