The Non-Newark Series, includes programs, invitations, and announcements for theatrical performances, festivals, art exhibits, and other public events across all other areas of NJ. The collection is arranged alphabetically by event type or organization.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of two scrapbooks containing clippings about the Newark Civic Symphony Orchestra. The clippings feature newspaper articles about performances, much of which include Philip Gordon’s participation with the orchestra. Abstract

This collection contains materials related to Philip Thomas’ involvement in Newark performing arts, including his leadership positions and partnerships with various organizations including the Wofabe African Drum Program, The Carter G. Woodson Foundation, Newark Symphony Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Greater Paterson Arts Council and the New Jersey State Council of the Arts.

Abstract

This collection consists of photos of Club Zanzibar donated by Larkie Rucker, former assistant manager of Zanzibar, and Vincent Bryant, former photographer of Zanzibar.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of 14 scrapbooks, some of which appear to have been compiled by Flanigan. Two of the scrapbooks contain programs and announcement of musical performances in Newark and New York City; many of the earlier programs include annotations regarding changes in the performances or the names of friends who accompanied Flanigan to the event (1889-1917, 1939-1957)8 scrapbooks are comprised of clippings of reviews and articles regarding concerts, recitals,...
