Abstract

The Herman Cohen Collection is a collection containing textual and photographic material relating to Cohen’s Cohen’s time in the Newark Police Department. It includes correspondence, and clippings, as well as photographs, most being the contents of five scrapbooks.

The bulk of this collection is photos taken by Jim Lowney, most from his career at the Newark Evening News.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of two rehoused scrapbooks featuring images of Newark, particularly the Forest Hill neighborhood, as well as several criminal court reports from Newark in the early 20th century.
