Scope and Contents

The collection contains membership cards (with many for Newark members); flyers for meetings on adult education held in Newark; incoming and copies of some outgoing correspondence; minutes; a constitution and by-laws; and other records. Also included are materials from a conference on adult education (1947); a copy of the Adult Education Bill (Assembly Bill No. 112, 1948); a list of adult courses offered in Essex County (1947-1948); a list of officers of the North Newark Adult School and the Essex County Adult Education Council, (1949-1950); a list of Essex County librarians; and a copy of a paper entitled, "The Non-Theatrical Film in Popular Education" (1948). Brochures in the collection include ones for the West Side Adult School (1947), the North Newark Adult School (1946 and 1948), and the Weequahic Adult School (1946).
