Biographical / Historical

The Department of Health or Public Health existed under that name until 1953, when the Department of Health and Welfare was established, containing a Division of Health.

In 1986, the Department of Health and Human Services was created including a Division of Welfare and a Division of Community Health. It also included a division of Recreational and Cultural Affairs, but that was moved out of the Department in 1994.

In 2007, the Department was renamed the Department of Child and Family Wellbeing. In 2014, the Department was renamed the Department of Health and Community Wellness.
