This subseries contains pieces written by Dr. Hidalgo for submission to fulfill scholarly obligations or to various journals for publication; there unifying characteristic is that they are intended to be textual. This subseries contains proposals for articles and books, drafts of articles and books, Dr. Hidalgo’s master’s thesis, various pieces written for completion of her doctoral degree, newspaper articles, and bound galley copies of volumes she both contributed to and edited. Of note is the draft “N.A.S.W. [National Association of Social Workers] Resource Manual: Lesbian and Gay Issues” and “N.A.S.W.: National Task Force on Lesbian and Gay Issues” that were finalized in the published volume: Hidalgo, H., Peterson, T. L., & Woodman, N. J. (Eds.). (1985). Lesbian and gay issues: A resource manual for social workers. Silver Spring, MA: National Association of Social Workers. Dr. Hidalgo’s seminal work on the Puerto Rican community in Newark, New Jersey, “The Puerto Ricans in Newark, N.J. (aquí se habla español),” is located in this subseries. Of biographical interest, two pieces of autobiographical writing are also found in this subseries. The documents are arranged chronologically.
