Scope and Contents
The photos show life in Newark in 2025. Many photos focus on the June 14th "No Kings Day" protest, which participants travelled to as part of the June 14th workshop. Other photos show buildings and people throughout the city.

Biographical / Historical
On June 14, 2025 and July 12, 2025 the Newark Public Library held two workshops in collaboration with Newark photographer Chrystopher Davis. Staff members involved were Reggie Blanding and Alisha Grant, from the James Brown African American Room (JBAAR) and Beth Zak-Cohen and Vanessa Castaldo from the Charles F. Cummings Information Center (CFCNJIC). The workshops were called Frames of the City.
Particpants filled out application to take part, and ten participants were chosen by the library, eight of whom completed the workshop. This first class was: Anaya Battle, Jhoana Geronimo, Natalia Duran, Petia Morozov, Petia Morozov, Phoenix Cutrona, Nicole Auffant and Yvel Clovis. During the workshops, participants learned about both photography and archives.
Each partipant received a camera on June 12th and was encouraged to take photos of Newark until July 14th. On July 14th, each participant chose 10 photos to be part of the collection.
