Scope and Contents

Box #1: files labeled as Newark Landmark Sites and Historic Districts (2006), Newark Maps, Program Survey, Newark Downtown District, and other material relating to Newark, NJ. Box #2: Newark Foundation, Newark Museum, Newark Cyber Notes. Broad Street, Urban Enterprise Zone Program. Box #3: CAC of NJ, CACNJ Facilities, Bedminster Medical Plaza, Bedminster, N.J. The Newark-related contents of the collection are as follows:

Box 1: flyers, brochures, maps, and directories produced by NJPAC, the Lincoln Park Cultural District, PSE&G, Newark's Public Information Office, etc.; photocopies of historic photographs; a Newark Arena Master Plan map, and traffic analysis (ca. 1999); transportation-related facts, and statistics (1998); promotional material related to Connection Newark, a campaign to attract businesses to Newark; photocopies of notes, newspaper clippings, and historic photographs for a brochure on the history of Newark (ca. 2003); a folder entitled "Newark Landmark Sites & Historic Districts," with material related to Newark historic districts, including a directory, maps, preservation guidelines, and a completed application to add the Four Corners Historic District to the National Register of Historic Places (1999-2008); a development plan, "New Newark Foundation," created by Ehrenkrantz, Ecksut and Kuhn Architects, and Mikesell & Associates, with colored renderings, site maps, parking plans, etc. (2000); drafts of concept plans for the S. Klein Building and the Century Hotel; copies of slides from a presentation titled, "Newark: Planning for a Better Tomorrow," including plans for renovating major downtown buildings for residential or commercial use (2005); a folder entitled "Program Survey" that includes completed surveys of Newark institutions, with information regarding location, functions, staff, history, demographics, etc. and a few photographs (2005); and a folder of miscellaneous notes, maps, etc. (ca. 2003-2007)

Box 2: Newark Foundation Development Team profile, press releases, etc. (2001); New Newark Foundation request for expression of interest (RFEI) for the redevelopment of downtown Newark, with maps, drawings, clippings, floor plans, etc. (2000); Newark Museum brochures, program guides, press releases, etc.; a folder entitled "Newark Cyber" includes draft proposals for a Newark Greenway Project (2003); a folder of material related to urban enterprise zones and Urban Economic Development Authority programs; and a folder entitled " Broad Street Development," including a study of Broad Street and copies of slides of a Connection Newark presentation (1990s)

Box 3: a folder of material related to development, in Newark, along the Passaic River, with maps, drawings, fact sheets, etc. (1999-2004); a folder entitled "Booklet," with drafts of strategic master plans created by Newwork for Newark and other cities; and in a large folder of miscellaneous material, affirmative action daily reports by contractors, sketches, data, notes, and meeting materials for various projects in Newark.

Biographical / Historical

Newwork is a real estate development consulting company based in Newark, but with clients throughout the world. Newwork assists cities, towns, and neighborhoods with the development, planning, design, and marketing of real estate projects. The employees of Newwork comprise real estate and financial analysts, project managers, planners and designers.

The collection consists of project proposals, reports, drafts, notes, presentations, surveys, and other material related to residential, and commercial re-development projects for downtown Newark.
