Scope and Contents

This collection contains some historical information about the Newark Evening News (Newark News), followed by alphabetical employee files from c. 1942-1967. Each page is titled, "Biographical Materials for Files". Forms vary by year but ask for information including employee name, address, birthplace, date of birth, parents' names, addresses and occupations, spouse's name, wedding date, names and addresses of family members (children and siblings), education with dates. present position, other jobs held (with dates), military service (dates, decorations), year of moving (to town, state, country), acomplishments (books written, etc.), civic interests and positions, organizations (clubs, etc.), political party and other interests (hobbies, sports). Files are foldered alphabetically in four folders: A-E (with historical information), F-J, K-P, and R-Z.
