Biographical / Historical

Edna Borcherling King was born Jun 3, 1870, the only child of George and Sarah King. She was baptised at St. Stephan's Church. The family lived around Newark including Broad St. By 1905, after the death of her father, they lived on Hillside Ave. Edna became a clerk, then library assistant and later a librarian at Newark Public Library. For example, in 1900 she was listed in the "delivery department" and in 1905 "assistant reading room in charge of trade catalogs", in 1908 "Chief" of the Periodical and Newspaper Department.

In 1911-1914, she is listed as a collaborater on "The Dramatic Index".
