Scope and Contents
This series contains material related to the administration of the Newark Public Library including: often extensive notes and minutes of Council meetings (1989-2003), budgets, grant applications, collection guides, proposals, memos, reports, feasibility studies, and outreach and development material. The material reflects the range of Cummings’ work at the NPL, which included, among other responsibilities: reorganization of the business library (1980s); development, fundraising, and outreach; facility design; preservation and conservation projects such as the microfilming of the Newark Evening News, indexing of the Newark Star-Ledger, digitization projects and disaster planning; the creation of collection policies, book selection, personnel issues, etc.
Also in this series are broadsides, maps, and guides related to the City of Newark, and NJPAC programs.

Personnel files in this series (Box 45, Folders 16-17; and Box 49, Folders 29-30, 32, and 34-36) are restricted until 75 years after the creation of the documents.
