This subseries consists of material on politicians and elections, mostly Newark and New Jersey, but also nationally. The material is filed alphabetically by subject, and then chronologically. The bulk of material is clippings and fliers but booklets and other miscellaneous papers are also included. This subseries overlaps heavily with 4A. Of note, is extensive material collected by Kukla on the historic 1970 mayoral election in Newark, which Kenneth Gibson won as the first African-American mayor in Newark.
