Scope and Contents
The Newark Health Collection is a miscellaneous collection containing materials related to Newark hospitals, physicians, medical practice, and public health. Included in this collection are materials related to Babies Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, Bethany Presbyterian Hospital, Community Hospital, Martland Medical Center, Newark City Hospital, and Saint Michael’s Hospital. Also included are materials related to the Newark Department of Health including notices and blank forms for various divisions including the Bureau of Contagious Diseases and the Division of Bacteriology. The collection also includes papers and talks written by Newark pediatrician and founder of Babies Hospital, Dr. Henry Coit. Also included are ledgers belonging to Dr. Haring, a Newark Eclectic Physician that focused on botanical remedies.
