Statement on Rebellion from NYC Commission on Human Rights (July 1967)
Scope and Contents
Most of the material in this collection deals with Malafronte's time as a top advisor to Mayor Hugh Addonizio from 1964 to 1970. There are large collections of documents dealing with the 1967 Newark Rebellion, the move of the NJ College of Medicine and Dentistry to Newark, and the Model Cities program. There are also clippings and other documents dealing with the enforcement of anti-gambling statutes, the Newark Police Department, and other issues encountered by Malafronte during his time working at Newark City Hall.
Also included are some legal documents related to a case in Jersey City involving property owner Steven Hyman and the Jersey City Medical Center. Malafronte became involved in this issue beginning in the 1980s, when he was working as a health care consultant.
