Survey, "Puerto Rican Lifestyles and the American Urban Experience." (2 of 2), c. 1970

This series contains documents in areas relevant to Dr. Hidalgo’s work. The topics included are the history of Puerto Rico, demographic data on Puerto Rican communities in New Jersey and New York, feminist writings, the public school system in Newark, community organizing, social work, and LGBT issues and policies on Rutgers campuses. Of particular note in this series is the survey “Puerto Rican Lifestyles and the American Urban Experience,” which was created using a model designed by Dr. Hidalgo, and the academic journal Affilia: Journal of Women and Social Work, a publication that had Dr. Hidalgo on its editorial board. The by-laws of the National Congress for Puerto Rican rights are found in this series. The items in the series are arranged chronologically. The documents include newspaper clippings, academic journals, conference proceedings, magazines and a bibliographic essay.
