· Reverse Discrimination: Includesinformation about the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court decision Regents of the University of California v. Bakke. The court ordered the university to admit a white student who had sued for reverse discrimination, but upheld the constitutionality of affirmative action. This folder also contains a 1997 Star-Ledger series on the 30th anniversary of the Newark riots, articles from the 1990s on discrimination in New Jersey and nationwide, and clippings on a 1976 New Jersey Supreme Court ruling outlawing quotas to remedy discrimination. There is also a Star-Ledger clipping on a 1989 U.S. Supreme Court decision outlawing “setaside programs” for public contracts.
