Clippings on radio programs re: police work; picture of Samuel Finklestein in attendance, with police officials, at a Norman Thomas speech in Washington Park (Jun 1938); Samuel Finklestein installed as president of Optimists Club (Apr 1939); J. Edgar Hoover speaking at opening Police and Fire Academy (Oct 1936); Funeral of Commissioner Michael P. Duffy (1940); many pictures of city officials and civil servants.

Folder 1: J. Edgar Hoover’s visit to Newark for dedication of Newark Police Academy at 18th Ave. and Norwood St. (Oct 6, 1936). One shows him shaking hands with Mayor Ellenstein. Also, the flag-draped building and Hoover touring the interior, with staff and equipment. (See, Newark Evening News, Oct 6, 1936, p. 12.)

Folder 2: labeled “Public Safety Standardization Committee,” includes photos from var dates, e.g., a group shot of the Board of Public Safety (May 1929); a visit by FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt, with Gov.
