Biographical / Historical
The first fire association in Newark was founded in 1797. This gradually grew into the fire department that exists today. When Newark was incorporated as a city in 1836 Newark had five fire companies.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Found in drawer labelled "Glass". May related to MG Nwk Fire which has many items from Captain Wittick who is shown in some of these negatives. Some negatives may have been transferred to picture collection which has many photos of Newark Fire Department.
Processing Information
Enevelopes 3 and 5 were found empty. Several negatives from other folders also missing.
