Biographical / Historical
W. Eugene Turton was born in Newark c. 1876. He lived there at least through 1903, when he was admitted to the NJ Bar, but lived at 63 Harrison Pl., Newark for the next 60+ years of his life. He died in Point Pleasant in 1965.
During his career, Turton was a commissioner for the Port of New York and was an Irvington magistrate. He had an active law practice in Newark for many years. He was a founder of the Newark Athletic Club and a lifetime memeber of the American Automobile Association.
Mr. Turton was married to Helen McCandless in 1947 and she was his only immediate survivor.
