Scope and Contents
This small collection consists of book jackets from volumes relating to New Jersey or by New Jersey authors. Book jackets with a Newark connection are: "Joe K: A Biography of Joe Kassberger," athletic director at St. Benedicts Academy; "Out in the Open," by Henry Schaeffer, staff writer, Newark Evening News; "T. G. Masaryk," ed. Stanley B. Winters; "Laying Down the Law," by Joe Clark, born in Newark and principal of East Side High School, and Joe Picard; "The Creation of American Team Sports," by George Kirsch mentions Newark re: baseball and cricket; "Johnson & Johnson," by Lawrence G. Foster of the Newark Evening News; and "Living in Sin," by Bishop John Shelby Spong of Newark. Also included are jackets from several volumes by Newark-born author Philip Roth and two items on Thomas Edison. Also, "Health is Yours" by Rosario Ragonesi published by the Buoyant Health Institue in Newark.
