Scope and Contents

This collection includes correspondence (1938-47), flyerss, convention and dinner programs, clippings, and scrapbooks related to the Republican Party in Essex County. While much of the material relates to the suburban towns of Essex County, there are also frequent mentions of chapter officers, delegates, activists, and candidates from the ward of Newark. Several of the folders are labeled, "Alfred Harris Collection." Alfred P. Harris was a graduate of Weslyan University, Vice-President of the Elmwood Company, Secretary of the Verona Board of Health, and Chairman of the Verona Republican County Committee; he served in the State Assembly from 1943.
