Scope and Contents

This collection consists of the two diaries she kept during those years, as well as material inserted into those diaries. The sales receipts, church programs, news clippings, theater programs, and other items have been removed from the diaries and placed in folders. Included are receipts from Bamberger's, L.S. Plaut, Morrison's, Seguine, Empire Shoe, Stevens & Co., Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York, Shartenberg's, Goerke Co., W. W. Oppenheim, Fain Knitting Mills, David Straus Co., and Harlie's. Programs are from local theaters Proctor's Palace, Loew's State, and Joseph Stern's Castle, and others. Local church programs include Hill Temple Presbyterian Chapel.

Biographical / Historical

Zehner (1901-1996) worked for the Price & Lee Company in Newark in 1922 and 1923. She kept diaries during those years.
