This collection includes photos of Newark Public Schools that Bill May took while working for the district. Schools include: Weequahic, Vailsburg, Peshine Avenue, Newton, Science High, West Side, and Arts.
Box #1: All schools alphabetically except Peshine Avenue and Peshine Avenue 1987-1988
Box #2: Peshine Avenue 1988-1991
Digital material includes photos of all schools, mostly in the 2000s, as well as historical research into the Newark Public Schools and Newark African Americans, oral history interviews, videos and audio from the schools and more.

Biographical / Historical
William W. May, known as Bill May, has been photographing the world's most famous jazz musicians for decades. He also taught music to children in Newark for forty years and retired as the district's Director of Visual and Performing Arts. He nows works as a arts and education Consultant, musician and photographer with William W. May Inc.
