Newark Jazz Festival Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection includes brochures and ephemera, meeting minutes, clippings, accounts, photographs, audiovisual material, artist publicity sheets, and notes related to the Newark Jazz Festival from 1991, when it was called the Sarah Vaughan Jazz Festival, to 1996. There are also additional materials related to the jazz scene in the Newark area.
The collection includes three subject folders in addition to folders for each year of the festival.
Box #1: Newark Jazz Festival.
1. General Newark Jazz Festival.
2. Sarah Vaughan Jazz Festival at Newark (1991): includes 7th Annual Newark Festival of People program (Sep. 28, 1991).
3. Newark Jazz Festival (1992).
4. Newark Jazz Festival (1993).
5. Newark Jazz Festival (1994).
6. Newark Jazz Festival (1995).
7. Newark Jazz Festival (1996).
8. Selection Committee Ideas: includes publications, brochures, publicity bios and photos.
9. Newark Area Jazz Miscellaneous: includes periodicals, programs from other jazz events.

Box 2: 4x6 photographs of the Newark Jazz festival, some still in envelopes. Unidentified. Some are foldered by month and date, but year is unkown. Others are in envelopes labelled from A-P (does not seem to indicate anything about the photo). Also includes photos of Sarah Vaughan tribute from 1991.
Box 3: 2 folders of publicity photos of artists in the Newark Jazz Festival festival, 1 folder of publicity materials, 1 folder of negatives / contact sheets for photos of the festival, 1 folder of "extras" (brochueres, fliers, objects)
Box 4: 2 folders of negatives / contact sheets for photos of the festival, 2 CDs "Jazz Pizzazz" and "Best of Stunt and Olfesen" Vol.1, 1 videotape: “Newark Jazz Festival 11/2/92”
Box 5: 3 videotapes: "Newark Jazz Festival 11/2/92", 5 audiocassettes: Monk & Trane, Keezer, Drew & Perez, Jamal, Roseanna Vitro, Branice McKenzie, Kevin Mahogany, and Jason “Malletman” Taylor.
