Series 6: Financial Records, 1936 - 1946

The financial records include a range of material that varies by year including invoices, receipts, completed tax forms, wage reports that list salaries for individual players, daily statements of attendance, accident reports for insurance, salary sheets for ball park staff, booking agreements, etc. The financial records are arranged chronologically by year, and then alphabetically within each year.

Bills, invoices and receipts include material related to expenses for printing (stationary, tickets, passes); bus repairs and storage; equipment (balls, bats and uniforms) and cleaning of uniforms; and advertising (newspaper ads, placards, distribution of placards, cuts and mats, sign painting, carpenter and pictures); and utilities (telephone and electric).

Daily Statements of Attendance and Receipts for home games include the date of game, weather, name of visiting club, attendance and receipts. Daily Statements for away games list the name of team played and stadium, attendance, expenses, and club share.

The Corporate Tax Reports include a balance sheet for the team (1937, 1938). The completed tax returns, “Employer’s Report of Wages Payable to Individual Employees from the NJ State Unemployment Compensation Commission,” list wages for individual players (1939,1942, 1943).
