Scope and Contents
The miscellaneous series contains files related to specific events such as the John Borican Victory Dinner and John Borican Day (1939, 1941) and a benefit for Newark’s Community Hospital (1940); lists of invitees and other material regarding Opening Day (1941-1943); material related to the Selective Service status of Eagles players (1941); and addresses for Eagles players in the military (1944); lyrics to a song by Andy Razaf “To our Negro Ball Players [Facing Major Leaguers on Sunday]” (1945); a list, by player, of returned or missing uniforms (1940); and completed receipts for uniforms for the Newark Cubs, a team comprised of adolescents (1941). Also in this series is a small amount of ephemera, such a tickets and rationing cards, and printed material including a few newsletters, flyers, and game day programs related to other teams.
